Here's How Many Crashes State Police Have Responded To So Far During Thanksgiving Holiday

Connecticut State Police officials have released the number of calls for services and vehicle crashes troopers have responded to so far entering Thanksgiving weekend, during the holiday enforcement period.

As of early Saturday morning, state police received 5,046 calls for service since the start of Thanksgiving Holiday enforcement period. 

"We responded to a total of 244 reported accidents with unfortunately one of those accidents being a fatal motor vehicle accident," state police said.

The fatal crash occurred on Route 15 in North Haven, claiming the life of a 29-year-old woman early Thanksgiving morning. For details, click here.

State police also conducted hundreds of motor vehicle stops, citing its "continuous efforts to reduce the number of serious injury accidents and/or fatalities." 

Through early Saturday, police issued a total of 1059 tickets for various motor vehicle violations. Of those tickets, 161 were issued as a result of violating seat belts laws and 322 were speeding-related. There has been a total of 16 charges of driving under the influence.
